We met X at an altitude of 19600 ft.
Since long time she's been repeating the same way:
up and down, up and down, up and down.
She was waking up in the middle of the night to start the journey.
Without haste, always last, following the procession.

Early in the morning she was reaching the summit.
Hence, if the skies were clear, she could embrace the whole horizon.
All her land, everything:
rocks, glaciers, streams, wind, scorching sun, snow and hail.

In the afternoon she was beginning to descent.
Always last, keeping distance. Patiently waiting, if necessary.

X didn't look for contact, she was avoding intimacy.
Spending her day curled up in a ball, wedged between the stones.
Waiting for the night.
Spotkaliśmy X na wysokości 6000 metrów.
Od wielu dni powtarzała tę samą drogę.
Góra-dół, góra-dół, góra-dół.

Budziła się w środku nocy i ruszała.
Bez pośpiechu, zawsze ostatnia, zamykała pochód.
Wczesnym rankiem stawała na szczycie.
Stąd, jeśli dopisywała pogoda,
mogła objąć wzrokiem horyzont.
Całą swą ziemię, wszystko:
skały, lodowce, strumienie, wiatr, palące słońce,
śnieg i grad.

W południe zaczynała schodzić.
Zawsze ostatnia, zachowywała dystans.
Cierpliwie czekała, jeśli było to konieczne.

X nie pragnęła kontaktu, unikała bliskości.
Dzień spędzała zwinięta w kłębek,
wciśnięta między kamienie.
Czekała na noc.
